Duet is another pattern that I’ve had around for awhile. It was designed to work in tandem with a two-at-a-time (TAAT) workshop but I didn’t want to restrict it to just that. I’ve written it in a way that the tips for the TAAT are in separate notes to the pattern.
I’ve used a symbol (as below) throughout the pattern to mark the point where the needle change would be for TAAT socks. This works really well for the halfway point when using magic loop too. It is quite unobtrusive though, so it won’t interfere if you use another method.
Duet are a top-down sock pattern with garter columns and a strong heel. This simple pattern works nicely with all sorts of yarns.
The strong heel means that if you are working two-at-a-time then there’s only a small proportion of the heel that needs to be worked one sock at once. If you’ve never worked a strong heel before, it’s quite a nice change from a heel flap and gusset, really simple to work and yet still fits well for all foot types.
With most things, it’s the small details that can make a bigger impact than you think and with Duet, I’ve ensured the garter columns move smoothly in at the toe for that added extra feature.
